New shoes?

No man who is a wedding photographer can every claim they don't know how important shoes are to a lady.

When that lady is a bride they take on almost mythical importance and woe betide the wedding photographer who doesn't ensure they get their 5 minutes of fame in the wedding photographs.

For Clare and Deans wedding everything had been planned to within an inch of its life and the shoes were very high on the agenda.  I was under no pressure then.

So I thank the sun for its cooperation in creating some fantastic shadows to bring drama to this shot.

Shoes - I bow before you.

Lord of the rings

As a Essex wedding photographer I find that one of the most important people on a wedding day (bride and groom excepted) is the best man.

A good best man helps keep the whole day in order from the basics (getting the groom to the church to presenting a great speech) right through to the absolute fundamentals of bringing the wedding rings with him.

At the wedding of Sarah & Steve the best man was Tony and he truly loved up to the title - he was there when the bride and groom needed him and he was there whenever I needed him.  A true best man.

The best of the best.

Sister Act

I had the real pleasure of photographing the wedding of Adrian and Louise recently in the fantastic grounds of the National Trust property Blickling Hall in Norfolk.

Norfolk is a little bit out of my normal area but Adrian and Louise are local to me but have family connections in that neck of the woods and it wasn't a difficult choice.

The whole day was a blast and a lot of that was due to the laughter and humour of Louise and her two sisters.

Making people laugh is all part of the job and it's fun too.

Don't panic!

Not a great scene for a wedding - a beautiful National Trust property (Blickling Hall in Norfolk) with puddles of water filling the long walk to the house.

This was the scene facing Louise and Adrian (bride and groom) and me as we met each other prior to their wedding the following day.

Given how shocking this summer has been we made plans for bad weather - choosing a number of indoor locations or covered locations and resigning ourselves to a rather wet wedding (only in terms of the wedding I hasten to add).

As it happened the day and the weather was just peachy.

Don't panic - your big day isn't in peril whatever the weather.

Where are you going with my shoes?

Kelly spent considerable time choosing the shoes for her wedding outfit and the choice of footwear is not as simple as us guys might think.

So it was with a slightly quizzical look that Kelly gave me permission to head outside of the Rivenhall Hotel in Essex with a vital part of her wedding wardrobe.

As I had parked my car earlier I had spotted all the beautiful blossom on the floor and had planned to use it as the backdrop to make her shoes looking even lovelier than they did in the box.

When a bride puts this much effort into choosing her shoes the photos should also take a little more effort.
