Blades of Payne

I've had the pleasure of working with Alison a few times now and it was her recommendation that ended with me shooting portraits of the Killa Hurtz Roller Derby team.

So it seemed only fair that Alison was the first formal portrait of the session and, as always, she rocked the shoot with a great splash of attitude and style.

There is a lot more to Alison than meets the eye - she is also a talented jewellery artist and you can find her stuff at Sacrifice Jewellery.

Just like Alison her jewellery is just that little bit different ;-)

Ivy league

Towards the end of my recent fashion studio shoot in Essex I had a few moments to work with the delightful model Ivy.

When I say a few moment it was probably no longer than 5 minutes but within that 5 minutes we ran through a range of poses using the frame created by a doorway that had been blocked off with some sheeting.

So all a bit of a rush but Ivy's top league style was obvious from the start and I just have to wait for 6 months for her to return from travelling for us to be able to work together again.

Our loss is South East Asia's gain.

Too hot for colour

Another fashion portrait of the lovely female model Krystal Johns from last weekends fashion photoshoot at Dieselpunk Studios.

The star of this shot is Krystals fantastic expression and the supporting pose.  The issue was the colour background was too distracting - too blue and it had to go.  By converting the image to black & white the only star of the show is Krystal herself.

I've pushed this shot as much as I can as far as the contrast is concerned but I think the final effect is worth it.

Black and white it may be but it burns bright enough.

Full house

Latex leotard?  Every photoshoot is an education.

When the gorgeous pinup model, Stephanie Jay, mentioned she was bringing a latex leotard to our fashion photoshoot I was mildly curious about what such an item would look like.  I should not have worried as Stephanie is style personified and the look was fantastic.

I was royally flushed (sorry).

Come to bed eyes

I am sure Cherrie Mae will forgive me the title - it wasn't a great creative leap - she has amazing eyes and she is on a bed. I am a master of the rather obvious.

Anyway it was a fantastic fashion photography shoot with Cherrie who is a master (mistress?) of the art of pin up.  Working through a series of poses this one caught my eye - the subtle tilt of her head, the curve in her hand and how well the powerful red in her lipstick complimented her pale skin.

Often it's the little details that turn a picture into a photograph.
