Cats rock

It can be dangerous to state a preference but sometimes you just have to come out on one side or the other - so I am a cat kinda guy.  There it is.

Today has been a glorious summer day (I tust it has been for you) and for once I picked up my camera not to shoot a bride or groom or family or model but to capture one of my cats soaking up the sun.

It has been a long time coming but Duke here was smiling in the sunshine.

Soak it up mister, soak it up.

The power of prayer

Ant is a personal trainer - I suspect that was a totally unnecessary description given his physique.

When we were looking for ways to demonstrate the results of his training we ran through a number of poses.  Some of them touched on rather cliché poses (think charles atlas) but then Ant took a pause between poses and a true moment revealed itself.

No one kicks sand in Ant's face.

Abs fab

Nothing says hard body more than a very defined set of abdominal muscles and Ant, a personal trainer, has some razor sharp abs.

As a personal trainer you really do need to live your brand - you are your product and being able to convince people of your abilities is supported (or undermined) by your own physique.

So Ant works hard (6 days a week) on his brand and clearly it pays dividends in both his appearence (but more importrantly) his credibility as a personal trainer.

This kind of physique doesn't come easy but Ant can help.

The jury is out

I love this shot - it's a very different pose and the angle of Ant's arm (a personal trainer) really shows off his shoulder and bicep.

My wife felt differently 'why is he kissing his hand?' was her initial reaction.

As I am in charge,  I'd like to think ;-),  I decided it made the cut but it demonstrated how subjective photography is and how different people take different things out of an image.

Still my wife can't be right all the time (?)

Karate kids

Many years ago I use to practice karate and I use to practice every Sunday with the subject of todays photo, Graham.

We lost touch, as people do, and then today we caught up after 18 years with the plan to take some portrait photos of Graham  as part of my personal project series this week.

As we chatted about what each of us had been up to I was transported back to the days when we used to spend our Sunday mornings tying to punch or kick each other for sport.  We both carried on our training in different arts but Graham has maintained this while it fell by the wayside for me.

Graham is very serious about his training in a style of kung fu called Wing Chun and it transpired we had had the same instructor but at different times.  Small world.

Happy days old friend.
