Boot camp

I had the chance to catch up with one of my closest friends and his two sons recently and along with the meeting came the opportunity to capture some images.

I've been taking images of Ethan and Finn for a few years now and it is interesting to see how quickly they are growing up.

Taking images of fast moving kids takes a certain amount of planning, intuition, timing and luck.

Let's hope i can keep up.

Think like a child

Life a bit tough? Work stressing you out? It's time to think like a child.

All Ethan here needed was the sunshine, a garden, his dad, his brother and some water and his life was complete.

For all the sophistication that adulthood brings it feels that we make a trade off in our ability to embrace the simple pleasures in life.

Here's to childish things.

Come fly with me

When you are as small as Annabel flying is possible with the help of your Dad.

This is my second shoot with Annabel and I think this pose has a limited shelf life judging by the shaking of arms after a few minutes.  It would appear little Annabel is quite a bit heavier than she was at the last shoot ;-)

Daddies little girl?  Not for much longer.

Turning your world upside down

That seems to be what a baby does best - especially if it is your first.

The parents of Annabel can fully testify to the fact that the first four months of a new born entering your life turns your life upside down and round and round.

Yet the joy in their faces and the laughter really shows what they truly feel. The playful nature of this baby photoshoot demonstrated the depth of emotion both mum and dad felt for their 'new bundle of joy'.

Sarah the ' ' was just for you. ;-)

Front and centre

Another shot from this mornings baby portrait shoot with lady Annabel.

I like to plan shoots in advance and had an idea I wanted to explore.  Typically I look to bring the parents and the baby as close together as possible.  This time I look for some shots where I would go the other way and create space between them.

The end result is still one of a mother and her child but it created a new element to sit alongside the parental bond - humour.  Laughter from both Sarah and Annabel was exactly what I wanted.

Front and centre?  Where else would Annabel be?
