Dereliction of duty

I love shooting with Liz - she brings both colour in her style and colour in her personality to our fashion photoshoots and I always end up having a laugh.

We were fortunate enough to get access to a derelict building which is due for demolition Monday for a short photoshoot.

So with a small window of opportunity we made the most of our time and raced around capturing shots in as many locations as possible. This shot is from our first session and I will have a lot more to share as it was a very productive shoot and a great hoot as well.

Dereliction is our friend.

A dedication

I had a great photoshoot today working with great models (liz) (Stephanie) and a great make up artists  (charli) (tammy) but one person was missing.

A photography friend of mine passed away last week and she was due to work with me today.  It didn't really hit home until first thing this morning that Michelle was gone and that we weren't going to spend the day together.

So Michelle I dedicate this shot to you.

I hope all your pain has ceased.

Trick or treat?

Quite often people will talk about photo processing as cheating - there have been some howlers (Kate Winslett on the cover of GQ for example) where processing has altered the state of the subject a little too much.

Yet you might argue that the ultimate processing is to remove the colour from an image as I have done below.  Colour is real and black & white is not.  Yet for all that I remain a huge fan of black & white portrait photography especially when it can take a cool fashion portrait and give it a halloween edge.

Working with Liz is always a treat and I am looking forward to our next shoot in a few weeks time.

Deep Purple

Liz returns with one of her fabulous wigs and this time we paired it with a purple costume ring during our fashion portrait photoshoot.

The darker wig just put us into a darker mood (without us realising) and so the shots from this segment of the shoot took on a more somber tone.  The shoot was still great fun but the images were far more serious.  Spooky.

It would seem that colour can affect your mood even if you do not realise it at the time.

Je Suis Un Rock Star

For our latest portrait photography shoot Alison and myself decide to go for a rock chick look.  Lots of attitude and lots of colour and a distinct lack of subtlety.

Luckily for us the excellent make up artist Charli Gladwin was available and Charli knows colour.

Rock on Alison, we salute you.
