Fashion should provoke a reaction

Lou mentioned she had a few t-shirts to use in our shoot and a few of them had been designed by people she knew.

This tshirt is bound to raise a few eyebrows but then Lou has never really been bothered by what others think of her.  Fashion, just like art, should provoke a reaction.

I think the t-shirt is more about the attitude behind the image than the image itself - it is a t-shirt for a proud woman.

I think it found its rightful home.

Dungeon mistress

One of the sets at the Dieselpunk Studios in Essex is a dungeon styler set up and tat is where Carla and myself found ourselves shooting today.

Dungeons are dark (I am lead to believe) and foreboding places by all accounts so we decided to go bright and light and blow away the gloom with Carla's colourful dress and powerful poses.

I chose to use a specific bit of lightning kit, A Lencarta Ringflash in case you are curious, and all the elements in this fashion photoshoot came together rather nicely.

The credit goes to Carla who completely made this shot with her awesome posing.

Weapon of mass distraction

Tanya is, well, Tanya.  She's provocative, confident, sassy and hilarious to work with.

I had the pleasure to work with Tanya sometime ago and the results ended up on the cover of Tattoos Only magazine and I have a lot to thank her for in that respect.  The first cover shot for any photographer is a pretty magical moment.

It was great to catch up with her again at the shoot at the Dieselpunk Studios and try to add to her growing portfolio with some different looking shots.  To do this I used a bit of kit called a ringflash which creates a very unique look.

A shoot is never anything but a distraction when Tanya is involved.

Crosstown traffic

I thought I'd take a short break from my role of Essex wedding photographer and return to a sequence I shot over the summer with model and artist Liz Sterry.

I have to admit this shot was seriously over exposed but it had some great movement in it and a great pose from Liz so I was keen to see if I could rescue it.

Thanks to the powers of Lightroom 4 I was and I'm liking the result.  I'm happy there was a good image in there needing some help to get out rather than an image made by processing.

It was a case of seeing the potential in an image.

Stepping out

High heels are challenging at the best of times but high heels in a burnt out building full of holes and debris become a positive liability.

Unless of course you are Marnie here who leapt around like a gazelle in her heels and used them to great effect during our portrait photoshoot in Essex.

Here I asked Marnie to use the handrail as support and to allow her to balance on one foot and create a lovely long line from her head down to the tip of her foot.

Carefully does it.
