Boot camp

I had the chance to catch up with one of my closest friends and his two sons recently and along with the meeting came the opportunity to capture some images.

I've been taking images of Ethan and Finn for a few years now and it is interesting to see how quickly they are growing up.

Taking images of fast moving kids takes a certain amount of planning, intuition, timing and luck.

Let's hope i can keep up.

Director on set

If you have followed by blog and my photography for any length of time you will have spotted how much I love using props.

This old cine camera was a steal on EBAY and young Aaron here enjoyed the idea that he was the next Orson Wells or Ridley Scott.

He was playing a role even if he didn't know it and was letting me practice using some new lighting equipment that seemed to work just dandy.

And action!

The many faces of Jess

I love my niece for lots of reasons - her playfulness in front of the camera is one of them.

Jess is, frankly, a bit of a handful but she is so entertaining she almost gets away with it (remember this is an uncle talking who can hand kids back) and in this sequence we see the many faces of Jess from the serene to the, frankly, peculiar.

Classic Jess.

You won't feel the benefit when you go outside

Luckily for Annabel we weren't planning an outdoor portrait shoot and so she could wear her new hat for as long as she liked.  I think everyone's mum will have said the above headline to them at least once in their lifetimes be it about a coat, a hat or any other warm outfit.

Saying all of this I have a fashion portrait shoot today and its pretty chilly so I have chosen a location with access to a warm car and a coffee shop.  I'll follow my mums advice and not put all my cold weather gear on until I leave the house.

It is a shame Annabels hat is a little small for me - it looked so cosy.

Come fly with me

When you are as small as Annabel flying is possible with the help of your Dad.

This is my second shoot with Annabel and I think this pose has a limited shelf life judging by the shaking of arms after a few minutes.  It would appear little Annabel is quite a bit heavier than she was at the last shoot ;-)

Daddies little girl?  Not for much longer.
